Community Health Projects
We design and deliver community health projects that use creativity, storytelling and participation to support wellbeing, connection and healthier communities.
Our Creative Health Connections (CHC) programme provides a flexible foundation for this work. It can be adapted to respond to different community health priorities, populations and settings; from wellbeing and social connection to specific health inequalities and community needs.
CHC brings together storytelling, visual arts, movement and other creative approaches, creating opportunities for people to connect, express themselves, explore their health and wellbeing, and build confidence and belonging.
CHC programmes:
Create: using creativity to support wellbeing.
Connect: reducing isolation through shared experiences.
Belong: creating safe and welcoming spaces where everyone feels valued.
As part of the development of CHC, The National Lottery Community Fund supported a targeted six-month programme in East London during 2026.
The programme focused specifically on parents and women with children aged 0–5, including people who may have sought sanctuary following displacement. It was developed in response to community feedback and used creative health approaches to promote wellbeing, connection and belonging, while creating opportunities for participants to build relationships, express themselves and explore creativity as part of their health and wellbeing.
The programme included embedded evaluation and practice-based research, enabling us to understand impact, learn from participants and contribute to the growing evidence base for creative health.
This targeted programme demonstrates the flexibility of the CHC foundation: the core creative health approach can be adapted around a particular community, health priority or desired outcome, while retaining its focus on creativity, connection and wellbeing.
CHC continues to provide a foundation for our community health project work, it's flexible, responsive and adaptable to the needs of different communities and health priorities.

Awarded National Lottery Community Fund Grant!
We’re delighted to announce that StoryTellThem CIC has been awarded funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to deliver a targeted project. Creative Health Connections (CHC).
This six-month programme will bring together communities across East London through a series of creative health workshops, using storytelling, visual arts and movement to promote wellbeing, connection and belonging.
Creative Health Connections was developed in response to feedback from community members who took part in our webinars, engagement sessions and local events.
Many told us they wanted more opportunities to explore how creativity can support their health and happiness. Inspired by this and following the success of our short explainer film on creative health, we’re thrilled to make this vision a reality with the support of The National Lottery Community Fund.
The programme aimed to:
- Improve emotional wellbeing and reduce isolation
- Build stronger community connections
- Celebrate diversity and inclusion across global majority, neurodiverse, and refugee communities
- Culminate in an celebration event during Refugee Week (June 2026), alongside other national awareness weeks such as Pride, Men’s Health Week, and World Wellbeing Week
All our programmes includes embedded evaluation and practice-based research.
Data collected with informed consent to understand impact, improve delivery and contribute to the evidence base for creative health.
